Facts Drywalling professionals use sheets of the product for eight up to twelve feet high and four feet wide. The longer sheets are best for the taller jobs like the walls and ceilings of great rooms. A scaffolding system will be used for the ceilings so that the sheets can be lifted easily into place. For the high walls the drywall finishers will use stilts. After the first mud job and taping have been done the wall is left to dry for 24 hours and then they are sanded smoothly. A second layer of mud will be applied and then the final sanding will bring finish the surface into a smooth surface. Plastering is still practiced for moldings and decorative areas.
